A Proposed E-Learning Program for Faculty Members in Faculties of Education at the University of Aden in Light of Their Training Needs
Abstract
This study aimed to design a proposed e-learning program framework for faculty members across education faculties at the University of Aden based on their training needs. To achieve this objective, a 44-item questionnaire was developed across four main domains: e-learning culture, e-learning hardware and software, instructional design and digital content production, and e-learning teaching methods. The study was applied to a random sample of 142 faculty members across three faculties (Aden, Zinjibar, Sabr).
Results indicated a overall high perceived need for e-learning utilization among sample participants, prioritized as follows: 'Instructional Design and Digital Content Production' ranked first with high demand, followed by 'E-Learning Teaching Methods' and 'E-Learning Culture' in second and third places, while 'E-Learning Hardware and Software' ranked last with moderate demand. The study found no significant differences attributed to academic rank, teaching experience, or faculty affiliation. Consequently, a proposed e-learning program focused on content design was constructed, recommending rapid implementation, faculty training, and the establishment of a dedicated E-Learning Center at the university.
